Fixing 3d print feed issues.
๐ My old Cocoon Create was working well but needed some maintenance lately. At first, I thought it was just bed adhesion issues ๐๏ธ, but upon closer inspection, I realized that the PTFE tube was causing some feed issues.
๐ฆ I ordered a new PTFE tube and had to disassemble the hot end. There were two screws holding the fan and stepper motor drive unit to the aluminum block. After removing them and untightening the set screw, I was able to pull the hot end free. Then, I untightened both the tip and the other side, and removed the old PTFE tube.
๐ ๏ธ The new tube went in pretty easily, but it needed to be trimmed to size. It’s important to only trim a little at a time to ensure a perfect fit without any play at either end.
๐ After the change, my machine works great, and my PLA+ prints beautifully again! ๐
It’s surprising how such a small component like the PTFE tube can cause significant issues with 3D printer feeding. In my case, it was causing the material to come out poorly. If you’re experiencing similar problems, it may be worth checking your PTFE tube for any damage or wear and tear.
